Ingredients

Smoky BBQ Sauce

  • ½ cup tomato paste sugar free
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 4 tablespoons erythritol
  • 1 tablespoon butter use dairy free alternative to make vegan
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons liquid smoke
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

BBQ Sauce

  • Add all the ingredients in a saucepan over a medium heat.
  • Stir and simmer for 5 minutes until all the ingredients are combined and the sauce starts to thicken.
  • Adjust to taste. Perhaps more liquid smoke or cumin.
  • Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
  • Pour into a glass container or jar until ready for use. Store in the fridge.

Assembly

  • Shred the palm hearts length ways and place in a small saucepan.
  • Add half of the BBQ sauce and mix.
  • Gently heat through to serve warm.
  • Serve with keto flatbread or keto bread roll.

Notes

You will only need half of the BBQ sauce.  Store the remaining sauce in a sealed jar in the fridge.
The net carbs will be the total carb count minus the fibre count. Carb count excludes sugar alcohols.
