- 2 medium onions finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 4 oz cream cheese softened
- 4 oz sour cream
- 2 oz mayonnaise
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Heat the butter on a medium heat in a medium frying pan.
Add the onions, garlic, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper and onion powder.
Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, then turn the heat down to low and cook for 15-20 minutes until the onions are soft and golden. Remove and allow to cool.
In a medium bowl mix the cream cheese, sour cream and mayonnaise until smooth. Stir in the cooked onions.
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes for the flavours to develop before serving.
